Why is this project happening?

Residents and staff in residential aged care homes are especially at risk of getting infections. Many of these infections can be prevented.

Some medications used to treat infections are given too often, or are not given at the right time. It is important to know when these medications are being given, to make sure they are given correctly.

How will NISPAC help?

The NISPAC project will mean that staff in aged care homes can keep track of infections and use of some medicines more easily.

Improving tracking of infections and medications means that outbreaks of infections can be found, and action can be taken quickly.

What does this mean for residents and carers?

This project aims to benefit residents through the implementation of a thoroughly researched and developed program, it poses no risk to residents, staff or carers.
