NISPAC will be a streamlined infection and antimicrobial use surveillance program for Australian residential aged care homes
The NISPAC project will provide a one-stop platform for staff in residential aged care homes to participate in an infection and antimicrobial use surveillance program. This new, dedicated and secure platform will be developed by the expert multidisciplinary NISPAC team, alongside consultation and collaboration with staff working in residential aged care homes.

Working closely with the aged care sector, our mission is to develop, implement and evaluate an infection and antimicrobial use surveillance program specifically for use in Australian residential aged care homes.
Project Stages
The NISPAC research project is funded by an NHMRC grant and will occur through three stages. Following these stages, NISPAC will be rolled out nationally to residential aged care homes.

Investigation
Investigation and exploration of current infection and antimicrobial use surveillance programs in aged care to determine areas for improvement.

Development
Developing, piloting and refining the NISPAC online platform.

Implementation
Trialing and evaluation of implementation of NISPAC in a representative sample of residential aged care homes.
